Working from home is rewarding in so many ways. One of the major benefits is having time with my little lady. But, it also means it makes it even harder to fit in fun learning activities while juggling her and work. I wanted to focus on colors this week so I of course went to one of my favorite places, Pinterest! I searched for activities that involved learning colors for toddlers and I noticed a few ideas involved popsicle sticks. I remembered I had a batch of foam popsicle sticks from Micheals in my craft stash from a busy bag party I attended years ago with my niece. I try to choose ideas based on what supplies I know I already have. Plus, I wanted to make it a quick and simple idea that didn't require a lot of prep time. If you don't have popsicle sticks laying around a great alternative is cutting out sticks/shapes from colored construction paper. Or, regular white paper and color them yourself with markers.
Here is what you'll need.
How to make your color matching board:
Here is what you'll need.
- Markers or Crayons.
- White card stock, construction paper or a poster board.
- Colored popsicle sticks or shapes from construction paper.
- Scissors. If you plan on making your own shapes.
How to make your color matching board:
- Grab your popsicle sticks or shapes and trace it onto the paper with your colored marker of choice. Alternate all the colors you choose; tracing a shape in each color.
- Color in the shapes with your marker/crayon.
- And that's it; now the fun begins!
Additonal ideas:
I try to make the most out of all activities. Here are some additional learning activities you can make on the back side of your boards/paper for practicing numbers patterns and letters!
