We all know that being a mom also means you are a cook, nurse (and sometimes doctor), cleaning lady, diaper-changer, potty trainer, the list goes on. But one thing we tend not to be is a planner! Don't get me wrong some moms are amazing at planning. I used to be an avid planner and list maker. After graduate school, I didn't want to even see a pen, let alone a planner and that's when I fell off the planner wagon.
Once I became a mom I was winging it all the time. I started to believe that you couldn't really plan anything because the baby has a plan of their own. And a lot of that is very true. You plan to leave at 2:00PM but then the baby drops a massive load and now you have to take them out of the car seat, undress them and change that nasty deuce they just left you. Then pack them up all over again. Resulting in you leaving the house at 3:00PM. (I'm exaggerating a bit, I know.) After year one, I realized I needed to get back on track and get our family (mainly me) on a better plan.
This past December I started researching planners and came across a whole world of hardcore planners. But I also learned there were ways to have fun with it and be creative. Which I LOVE! I really liked The Happy Planner and decided to invest in one. It allowed me to plan my day-to-day schedule with ease. This planner is a disc-style planner. This allows you to take out the pages so you can write in them without spirals or binders getting in the way. Plus, they have a ton of accessories and inserts that you can add to fit your needs.
I purchased the Home Planner inserts and they really work great. They come with meal planner sheets, budget sheets, household cleaning sheets and more! The meal planner sheets are my fave because they have a Grocery List on the other side too.

I wasn't too fond of the cleaning insert. I just needed something a little more segmented by day. So I did some digging on Pinterest and found this free weekly printable sheet. I made a list of all the rooms and things that need to be cleaned in the house. Then I split it up by day to fit around my work schedule, activities, etc. It has really helped me stay on track with cleaning during the week so I'm not stuck at home cleaning over the weekend. Who wants to be home in the summer?!
These are just a few things that help me stay on track. I am not perfect and I fall off every so often. However, I know that tomorrow is a new day and I can always get back on track! I plan to share more of my planning tips here on the blog so be sure to keep following. If you have any planning tips you want to share, comment below. I'd love to hear them!
