Tis' the season to get your house all cozy and "Christmassy" for the holidays! One place that tends to get less holiday cheer is the kitchen. So, I thought I'd give it a try this year. Keeping in mind, we have gifts to buy and little time on our hands. I think all my fellow mommies can agree that we need to do it on a budget and quickly, right?! I took a trip to Dollar Tree to scope out their stock a few days ago and I won't lie, I was limited. People obviously were out shopping way ahead of me. I kept my hopes up and ended up finding something rather simple, yet cute. There was only two 12" plain faux wreaths left in the whole store so I snatched those immediately. I then found some adorable bow and stocking ornaments, as well as ribbon. My crafty brain went to work and this is what I came up with.
SUPPLIES
- Ribbon of your choice.
- Wreath (12" was a perfect size for the kitchen cabinets)
- Ornaments (preferrably something light-weight or fabric material)
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors
Here's what I dID:
I chose some fabric bow ornaments with faux berries to add to the wreath. Lay them out to your liking and glue them down. These came in a 3 pack.
I then measured how far down I wanted the ribbon to hang over the cabinet and cut it to size. Next, I glued a strip of the red ribbon to the beige/taupe ribbon to add a little more color.
Then, I wrapped the very end of the ribbon around the center point of my wreath and glued it down to itself. It's was then ready to be hung over the cabinet. I fastened the ribbon on the inside of the cabinet with a push pin.
Lastly, I glued these adorable stockings to the beige/taupe ribbon and hung those from a few cabinets as well.
I initally planned to hang something over every cabinet but it turned out, less is definetly more. I hope this will motivate you to take a stab at some crafting. This was very inexpensive ($10) and only took about 25-30 minutes from start to finish. Crafting is "me time" and is very theraputic for me. Give this one a try, you just might like it too!
