IKEA has some really inexpensive kids furniture that can add a little fun and function to your kiddies rooms or play room. We decided to add a little pizzazz to this table and here is how we did it. First, you'll need a few things:
- Chair and Table Legs only
- Scissors
- Painters Tape
- KILZ Primer
- Ruler or Measuring Tape
- Paint (colors of your choice, we used the leftover paint from her walls)
First, I measured 3 inches from the bottom of the legs and marKed it with a pencil. I then wrapped the painter's tape around all the legs to section off the area I wanted to add paint to. You can always paint the whole table and chairs too! Which is super fun and cute. We just thought she had enough color going on in her room already so we just added a tad.
Next, I placed the legs on top of the box the table came in and began spraying the sectioned off areas with the primer. If you choose to paint the whole table and chairs then primer all the wood pieces.
Then, you can paint! My hubby did the painting while I was away at work so I don't have photos of that. But you get the drift. He sent me this picture when it was all dry and assembled. :)
I was perusing Pinterest a few days later and saw another hack that I thought would add even more F.U.N. to this table. I had a small bottle of chalk paint from the Target Dollar Spot ($1) in my crafting stash so I grabbed some painters tape and a paint sponge and added some to the back of the chair.
This allows for some fun drawing or personalization when she has guests over.
I hope you enjoyed this post! Remember, everything doesn't have to be over the top. Simplicity and functionality is key! Just have fun with it and make it your own.
